Welcome back
to TBIOB! Can you believe the series is
coming to an end? It’s been so much fun,
but this is officially the last blog of The Better Fly Blog Series. It began with A Beast in the Sky. We then looked at Genus with Multi-faceted
Eyes. We learned about our nets and
networks from a spiritual view point with Wings and Wheels, Pt. 1 and 2. Then it was on to take-off tactics with
SOAR. Today we complete the series with,
“Did Someone Say to Yield?”
We started
with a landing and we are better for it.
We went from technically a pesky fly in a room of giants as
Entrepreneurs coming into new industries and/or new levels of industry, to
business-minded people with a greater comprehension of the corporate world
around us. We landed because we were out
of our league, but we yield to merge onto higher ground.
To merge we
judge the speed of those already on the highway to know whether we need to slow
down or speed up. If we judge
incorrectly, we might find ourselves off on the shoulder. In business, off on the shoulder may mean we
need to redirect our efforts, or it may mean take a detour. Let’s take the detour off the table. Let’s assume we’re clear about where we want
to go, and although we may need to recalculate the time we need to get there,
or the vehicle needed; we’re determined to get there by the route we have
chosen. Now we look at the idea of
redirection.
Question. Is there a way to redirect our efforts
without making a detour? Might we let
wisdom sit at the table long enough to see us off the shoulder with a
completely new endeavor? Think about the
few small seconds you may take your eyes off the road to tune the radio. Whether you know it or not, it often comes
with a bit of a yield. When we’ve double
checked the course, and we know that it’s correct; can we yield to the thought
of using a different kind of vehicle? Better
yet, are we able to step back and allow for the voice of the Divine to pick the
vehicle?
“Did Someone
Say to Yield?” is a tough question when we’re holding the dream in mind. As entrepreneurs a new vehicle may only read
as another expense, but what if you can’t be spotted because you’re using the
same vehicle as a hundred other businesses?
What if it’s not solely your ability or inability to judge the speed on
the highway that’s keeping you from reaching higher ground? What if your new vehicle had the right size,
color, and shape; a combination that could make the highway yield to you? And what if you didn’t have to wait to figure
it all out? What if there’s traffic
control for those who were willing to turn on their transponders.
Sometimes
when we’re soaring, it’s hard to think that there’s more, or to remember the
entire flight plan, but we inevitably come to these transition areas where we
need to merge onto new roads. We have
the option of trying to direct it all on our own. As small aircrafts, many times we can, but the
more wings and wheels we develop and the larger our operations become; the more
I hope we’ll find the communication between the one behind the wheel and the
spirits in the wheels necessary.
Until the
next Better Fly Blog Series, I hope that you’ll take the time to turn your
transponders on and develop the conversation with the one whose eyes holds the
most facets. Consider the suggestions
that defy logic, and wait to see the line of cars or planes waiting to let you
in.
