The Better Fly Series: Wings and Wheels, Pt. 2

Happy New Year and Welcome back to The Better Fly Blog Series.  This is part two of  "Wings and Wheels", and today we are just about ready to take flight.  Let's look at our wings, as we return to Ezekiel for better insight.

In part one, we looked at Chapter 1 verses 4-21.  Now we pick up at verse 22, revealing more of the priest's vision.  The scripture reads, "Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was what looked something like a vault, sparkling like crystal, and awesome.  Under the vault their wings were stretched out one toward the other, and each had two wings covering its body.  When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings, like the roar of rushing waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army."

Since the last blog, we should have a better understanding of our network, and perhaps even a better look at some of the key positions.  Now let's turn to our wings.  First, let's make a bit of a distinction; your wheels being your network and your wings being your partnerships.  For the last two blogs we've anchored around the subject of competition.  Partly because it's the competition; The Beast in The Sky that caused us to be grounded.  But what if we could switch our focus a bit, and start to consider a leveled playing field.  How can we move from prey to partner?

First let's define partnership for the purpose of this blog and in terms of business.  A partnership then is said to be a contractual agreement between joint principals.  Therefore the subject becomes equality.  If we're able to survive being grounded, and if we can find a way to still grow, advance, adapt, innovate, and speculate under such confines, perhaps there is a chance we can become equals.  Equals particularly in perceived value, and in sound.  Yes sound.  Actually, it's always been about sound.  Did you know it was your similar sound that called your competitors attention to you?  However without the right perceived value, that similar sound is an unwanted buzzing.  As we master being grounded, we begin to force the competition to hear in terms of partnerships rather than competition.

But how do we know that our sound is related to or directly connected to our wings?  Let's return to Ezekiel's vision.  If you recall from part one, there are four living creatures, each with four heads and four wings.  The above scripture describes the way the wings interact with each other.  It says, "...their wings were stretched out toward each other."  It also says, "When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings, like the roar of rushing waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army."  Here we see that as the wings come together, and as they begin to touch each other, the sound becomes greater and is likened to the sound of an army.

Therefore, if we trust that we are not grounded in vain, and begin to envision ourselves flying again, we can set our focus on strengthening and/or developing our partnerships.  Just remember, the greater the partner you envision working with, the greater your growth and perception of what's next needs to be.  In the meantime, we work in our networks to ensure that they have a solid understanding of the vision and mission, because not only is the spirit of the living creatures in the wheels, but if we look again at scripture, we will see that "their rims were high and awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes all around".  Thus, give special attention to your wheels because they are your eyes on the ground and in the air.

Thank you for following The Better Fly Blog Series.  Hope you'll tell someone about the series, and don't forget to return for the final blog in the series as we look to SOAR.
